Biography

Anneleen Lenaerts, Principal Harpist of the Vienna Philharmonic, is widely regarded as one of the leading harpists of her generation. Praised for her flawless technique, refined sound, and stylistic versatility, she captivates audiences as an orchestral musician, soloist, and chamber artist alike, performing worldwide in major concert halls and festivals across Europe, the United States and Asia.

In the 2025/26 season, she performs at the Festival Ravel, Allegro Vivo, with the Lucerne Festival Strings, at Mozartfest Würzburg, Grafenegg Festival, Vienna Musikverein and Konzerthaus, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, as well as in Regensburg, Skopje, Aalborg, and at the Tivoli Festival in Copenhagen. A special highlight is the Big Little Music Festival in Ghent, which she curates and which will take place in January 2026.

As a soloist, she has appeared with orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Brussels Philharmonic, Belgian National Orchestra, and Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra. She has performed in prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Salzburg Festival Hall, BOZAR Brussels and Salle Gaveau Paris, as well as at festivals like the Rheingau Music Festival, Moritzburg Festival, Lockenhaus Festival and Aspen Music Festival.

Highly sought-after as a chamber musician, she has collaborated with artists such as Emmanuel Pahud, Avi Avital, Julia Hagen, Christiane Karg and Dionysis Grammenos. Her programmes range from lyrical song transcriptions to innovative combinations for harp with clarinet, mandolin, or voice.

Her discography with Warner Classics has expanded significantly in recent years. Following the acclaimed album Vienna Stories (2021), she released the EP More Stories (2024), featuring her own arrangements. In March 2025, she presented a digital single of her harp transcription of Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte. Her earlier album Nino Rota. Works for Harp, recorded with the Brussels Philharmonic and Emmanuel Pahud under Adrien Perruchon, was awarded the prestigious Opus Klassik Award.
