On the afternoon of Sunday, Dec. 22, with free and free admission, starting at 4:30 p.m., music goes on the road with the third “Christmas Greenway” of Lake Como in Tremezzina.
The village of Mezzegra, rich in sumptuous palaces, is again this year’s chosen location for its enchantment, which in the winter time takes on a fairy-tale character.
Under the porch of the small church, a hot tea, offered by the Pro Loco of Mezzegra as a sign of welcome is the first stage that will feature Lorenzo Bobbio, a young oboist and winner of the 2022-23 National Arts Award.
The “Christmas Greenway” will then continue at 5:15 p.m. with the second stop at the nearby Wooden Altar Chapel of the Church of St. Abbondio. The splendor of the frescoes and the magnificence of the wooden altar will be the backdrop for the duo consisting of Elsa Biscari, a voice “with softly mottled color and measured and intense phrasing,” accompanied by Carlo D’Ariano‘s theorbo .
The third and final stage, not after a stop at the refreshment point with mulled wine offered by the Italian Association of Friends of the Crib of Tremezzina in the small square of the House of Cribs in the historic nucleus of Bonzanigo, will be hosted in Palazzo Brentano, a historic building that will welcome the public on the notes of the viola da gamba of Alessia Travaglini, an established interpreter of this instrument predecessor of the current cello. With the accompaniment of music by T. Hume, M. Marais and C.F. Abel, those attending will be able to visit the exhibition I Grandi Maestri del Presepio (The Great Masters of the Nativity ) set up by the master nativity scene artists of the AIAP Tremezzina branch.
Free admission subject to availability.
