The musicians of Quintessenza Brass are all professors who have collaborated with some of the most important Italian and international musical institutions. They have performed in cities all over the world under the direction of renowned conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, Antonio Pappano, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Daniele Gatti, Myung-Whun Chung, Yuri Temirkanov, Kent Nagano, and Ennio Morricone.
They have performed at major venues in Italy and abroad, including Castel Sant’Angelo, Teatro Valle, and San Marco al Campidoglio in Rome, the Center for American Studies, and the Chiesa del Gesù Nuovo in Naples. They have been featured at important festivals such as Santa Fiora in Musica and Tolfa Jazz Festival. International performances include concerts for the Weimar Rotary Club at the Goethes Gartenhaus and for the Italian Consulate at Wolfsburg Castle in Germany, as well as for the Music Union of Novazzano in Switzerland.
The quintet has a varied repertoire that spans from baroque and classical to contemporary and jazz music, including original compositions written specifically for this formation. Several works have been composed and arranged for them by leading musicians such as David Short and Marcello Rosa.
The members of the ensemble specialized in chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik “Franz Liszt” in Weimar, studying with Prof. Walter Hilgers (German Brass).
Quintessenza Brass has received numerous awards, including the “Förderpreis” at the XIII International Competition for Brass Ensembles in Passau (Germany), first prize at the “Burke and Bagley International Competition” (USA, 2018), and first prize at the “International Moscow Music Competition” (2021). They also earned distinctions in the chamber music section at the IV International Competition of Philadelphia (VV) and the XIX National Competition “Giulio Rospigliosi”.
Their debut album Aria was released in December 2014 and was recently reviewed by Vatican Radio. The recording features a special appearance by acclaimed soloist trumpeter Fabrizio Bosso.
Their latest album, Fuoco, was released in 2019 by Finest Arts Records and features the extraordinary participation of Alessio Allegrini, one of the world’s foremost horn virtuosos.
