You might have seen her at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

At the beginning together with the metal band Gojira, then transitioning into the Habanera from Bizet’s opera Carmen, this highly acclaimed performance demonstrated the artist’s versatility.

The success of this performance was crowned with a Grammy Award in February 2025.

The 2025/26 season sees Marina performing Carmen, one of her signature roles, at the Dallas Opera, her first staged production in the USA. A role she will also perform at the Greek National Opera in Athens later this season.

Besides a new production of Die Fledermaus, which brings her back to the Zurich Opera, she will return to the StaatsOper Berlin as Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) and make her Salzburg debut as Melibea (Il Viaggio a Reims) together with Cecilia Bartoli.

Marina Viotti is also a versatile and passionate concert singer. She will appear at the Bayreuth Baroque Festival with the Orchestra of the Opera Royal de Versailles, in Amsterdam with the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées with Le Concert de la Loge, and on tour in Switzerland with Les Musiciens du Louvre.

The versatile singer first studied the flute, experimented with jazz, gospel and heavy metal, and earned a master’s degree in philosophy and literature before beginning her vocal studies in Vienna with Heidi Brunner, later continuing at the Lausanne University of Music.

She completed her studies with a soloist diploma and further refined her training in a bel canto programme with Raul Gimenez.

Her first engagements took her to the Lausanne Opera, the Lucerne Theatre, and the Grand Théâtre de Genève. She has since become an internationally sought-after artist, performing at the world’s most prestigious opera houses.

Her interpretation of Charlotte in Massenet’s Werther at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées was highly acclaimed.

Recent highlights include Orlofski in Amsterdam (Die Fledermaus), Muse/Nicklausse in Les Contes d’Hoffmann at La Scala, her Carmen debut at the Zurich Opera House, Alceste at the Rome Opera, and Rosina at the Arena di Verona, Bolshoi Theatre, and Berlin Staatsoper.

She has also appeared in the title role of La Périchole under Marc Minkowski, as well as in L’Olimpiade and La Cenerentola at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées.

Alongside her operatic career, she is also a highly sought-after concert singer, recently making her USA debut with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under Nathalie Stutzmann.

Marina Viotti has won numerous awards, including the Kattenburg Competition (2017), the Concours de Genève (2016), the International Bel Canto Prize (2015) and the Mâcon Competition (2014).

In 2019, she received the Mazars Young Singer Award at the International Opera Awards in London.

In 2023, she was named “Artiste lyrique de l’année” at the Victoires de la Musique, and in 2022 she received the Swiss Music Prize.

In 2025, she was honoured with the title of “Chevalière de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” by the French Ministry of Culture.
