A complete immersion into the more domestic and intimate side of Brahms: that of the vocal quartets with piano, meant to be sung at home, among friends, with a glass in hand. This aspect of Brahms’ universe is perhaps less commonly featured in concert programs, compared to his grand symphonic works and chamber music, but it is no less authentic and heartfelt.
