The church of Saints Giacomo and Filippo stands on the edge of Spurano, along the ancient Via Regina, overlooking the lake and facing Isola Comacina, the ancient parish church to which it belongs.

Its foundations rest partly on the rock and partly on arches with bases placed directly in the waters of the lake: an extraordinary location, almost suspended between land and water, which tells the story of centuries of history and of an intimate relationship between human architecture and the majesty of the Larian landscape.

The building was constructed between the 10th and 12th centuries, probably as a “response on land” to the collegiate church of Sant’Eufemia, previously built on Isola Comacina.
