G.Rossini Musical Association
The G. Rossini Musical Association was founded in 1918 by Ariodante Coggi, a violinist born in Cremona but who lived in Busto Arsizio. Over the years, it has undergone continuous transformations, leading to its current establishment as a third-sector association. Since 1985, it has been based at Villa Ottolini Tosi, where several generations of people have attended music lessons, both amateur and professional.
Today, the Association’s activities have diversified significantly, and it is able to meet educational needs at all levels. In addition to courses in classical music, jazz, and rock & pop, it organizes conferences, concerts, exhibitions, conventions, professional development courses, and workshops, all of which have expanded its scope and fostered the knowledge and diffusion of music.
Since the 2024-25 academic year, the Association has signed an agreement with the G. Cantelli Conservatory of Novara.
Currently, the Rossini Association is also the Trinity College London examination center No. 68713, offering open sessions for certification exams in Music Theory and Instrument, welcoming students from all over Italy. The Municipal Administration of Busto Arsizio has always considered this institution indispensable for teaching and spreading musical culture, supporting it materially and economically since 1937. Furthermore, the numerous initiatives constantly carried out are an example of effective and functional collaboration between the public and private sectors, creating increasingly effective cultural and educational opportunities that are in line with the times.
Since its foundation, the G. Rossini Musical Association has collaborated with organizations and institutions on cultural planning and promotion, including the Ars Aeterna Association, creator and promoter of the LacMus International Music Festival, with which it has been working steadily since 2021 as part of the BAClassica – Dialoghi Musicali Festival, now in its 8th edition in 2025, and for the artistic design and implementation of LacMus Christmas – Waiting for Christmas, which successfully reaches its third edition in 2025.
In 2019, the G. Rossini Musical Association was a partner as a provider of services for the exhibition “E’ degli angeli un sorriso questo lago, il verde, i fior” (This Lake’s Smile Belongs to the Angels, the Green, the Flowers) – The Musical Enchantment of Lake Como. The exhibition, designed and curated by Paola Colombo, was made possible through the support and promotion of the Municipality of Tremezzina and the Ars Aeterna Association, and was held in the temporary exhibition spaces of Villa Mainona – Museum of the Landscape of Lake Como from June 26 to August 31, 2019. The exhibited work was a portrait of Gioacchino Rossini, the composer who stayed on the lake in the 19th century, painted by the artist Giovanni Pierpaoli from Marche.
