Lortie made his debut with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra at the age of thirteen, and in 1984 won the first prize of the Busoni competition. He studied in Montreal with Yvonne Hubert, in Vienna with Dieter Weber, and subsequently with Leon Fleisher. A prolific artist, he has produced more than 45 recordings featuring the pillars of piano literature, including 7 volumes of works by Chopin, Beethoven’s 32 sonatas, the complete works of Ravel, Liszt’s Years of Pilgrimage and two volumes of works by Faure. He is followed by more than 300,000 listeners monthly on streaming platforms. We are proud that Louis Lortie is co-founder and Artistic Director of the LacMus International Music Festival.
The masterclass of Louis Lortie will offer a unique opportunity to observe his work with musicians who will perform that same evening in the concert “Vive les amateurs!”
