The central focus of this four-hand concert is, of course, the two famous symphonic poems by Respighi, Fontane di Romaand Pini di Roma, which have circulated in this version since their inception. In fact, the first was personally arranged by Respighi and Alfredo Casella for a company producing perforated piano rolls. Preceding them is a selection of Reynaldo Hahn’s elegant and rarely heard waltzes, along with a classic of the genre: Fauré’s Dolly, a suite of six light and playful pieces inspired by a little girl.
