Biography

Soprano Anna Pirozzi is currently one of the most celebrated voices on the international opera scene. Shortly after her debut in 2012 at the Teatro Regio di Torino as Amelia in Un ballo in maschera, she began performing on the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Royal Opera House London, Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala Milan, Opéra de Paris, Vienna State Opera, Arena di Verona, Teatro Real Madrid, San Francisco Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Bavarian State Opera Munich, and Teatro San Carlo Naples.

Among her many career highlights are Maddalena di Coigny in Andrea Chénier in San Francisco; Turandot, first performed in Israel under Zubin Mehta and now one of her signature roles; Lucrezia Contarini in I due Foscari at La Scala; Aida in Verona and Madrid; Amelia in Un ballo in maschera in major international houses; Leonora in La forza del destino in Paris and Barcelona; as well as Adriana Lecouvreur and Tosca.

In 2023, she made a highly acclaimed debut as Medea (Cherubini) at the Greek National Opera, a role she will reprise in June 2026 at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, 65 years after the legendary Maria Callas production.

In summer 2021, she celebrated her 100th performance as Abigaille at the Arena di Verona, to great critical and public acclaim. She has received several prestigious awards, including the Premio Arte Sostantivo Femminile (2025) and the Mirella Freni Prize (2026).

She is widely regarded as a leading interpreter of Verdi roles such as Lady Macbeth and Abigaille, performed at major venues including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, Teatro alla Scala, Paris, Berlin, Tel Aviv and many others.

She is also considered one of the finest interpreters of Turandot, a role she will perform in 2026 at major venues such as the Royal Opera House, Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro San Carlo, Puccini Festival Torre del Lago, and Arena di Verona.

Born in Naples, she studied singing at the Istituto Musicale della Valle d’Aosta and later at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Turin. She currently lives in Switzerland with her husband and two children.
