In 2022, we commemorate the 150th anniversary of Alexander Scriabin, a composer who was a longtime member of the Theosophical Society and, towards the end of his life, became increasingly drawn to mysticism.
One example of his mystical approach is his unique vision of the relationship between colors and musical notes. Scriabin played on a color-coded light keyboard, weaving melodies beyond conventional perception, letting himself be guided by colors rather than the notes themselves.
To celebrate his legacy, a group of students of the renowned Franco-Canadian pianist Louis Lortie will present Scriabin’s complete piano sonatas over two performances at Villa Carlotta.
