The sixth edition of LacMus Festival takes place from 7 to 17 July 2022 in Tremezzina, Lake Como, Italy.
This year’s musical program pays tribute to composers Cesar Franck (200th anniversary of his birth) and Alexander Skryabin (150th anniversary of his birth), with a particular focus on the connection of their music with mystical philosophies.
Actually the main theme of this edition is “mystical music”.
Since ancient times philosophers and theologists have been studying the “power” of music, considering it to be able to connect material and spiritual worlds. Music seems in fact to touch so deeply, that it can make human beings get closer to the divine and to the whole universe.
Franck, organist and composer of religious pieces, exponent of French post-romantic music, faces in his compositions the dualism between faith and sensuality. Skrjabin, on the other side, is a visionary who likes to experiment and creates a new language made of sounds related to colors.
Among the artists performing, the young violinist Giuseppe Gibboni, winner of the Paganini Prize, the Russian violinist Pavel Berman and the versatile American pianist-composer Dan Tepfer.
Beside the traditional classical music concerts, innovative experiences are provided: the sunrise concert on the lake and the nice musical walk on the Greenway of Lake Como.
Concerts are held in stunning historical venues: Villa del Balbianello, Villa Carlotta, Sanctuary of Beata Vergine del Soccorso (UNESCO site), Isola Comacina, the Greenway of Lake Como, Grand Hotel Tremezzo, Villa Melzi d’Eril in Bellagio and – new this year – Castello Durini in Alzate Brianza.
